LibGuides: Parallel publishing in the University of Vaasa Osuva publication archive: Parallel Publishing

The open science principles of the University of Vaasa cover open publishing of research results and data. The principles support the diffusion of research knowledge among researchers and throughout society.

The University of Vaasa requires that publications are made open access and that research publications are parallel published in the Osuva publications archive whenever possible in accordance with publisher’s publication permission (Rector’s decision).

Before publishing with a journal, check the contract regarding your rights to parallel publish. Try to retain them if possible. Make agreement with co-authors.

Most commonly accepted version for parallel publishing is the accepted article including revisions but without the publisher’s pagination and logotype (final draft; AAM, Author's Accepted Manuscript)
Check embargo, e.g. the AAM should not be visible until official publication

How to ask permission?

Journal or publisher:

Dear [publisher's rights manager or similar],

I am writing to ask for permission to self-archive a copy of my article/book chapter [title of the article/book chapter], published in [publication name/book, vol, issue, pages], [DOI].
The copy will be archived in Osuva Publication Archive, the freely available institutional repository at the University of Vaasa.
