E-resources in teaching

Linking from an online course to an e-journal

Linking to an e-journal through the SFX menu

When linking from an online course to single e-journals, it is advisable to use the SFX linking service. The SFX menu will work remotely, you do not have to add the proxy server address to the URL. Some years of a journal may be available in one database, while some in another. Linking through the SFX menu will give readers access to all volumes. Alternatively, you can also link to the journal by copying the journal link directly from the database. In this case, remember to add the proxy server address to the URL.

1. Search the journal in the Finna portal of your organization.

2. Click the SFX link under the journal

User rights for e-resources

The library acquires e-resources through the FinELib consortium and also directly from the database vendors. The user rights for the resources are defined in the license agreements. Usually resources may be used when teaching, studying and doing research. Commercial use of e-resources is not allowed.
